A full-time Research Assistant is sought for molecular biological and transgenic mouse work at the Research Center for Molecular Medicine (CeMM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (http://www.cemm.oeaw.ac.at) in the research group of Denise Barlow studying Epigenetic Mechanisms In Development and Disease. The position is initially available as a maternity-leave replacement but has the possibility of a permanent position. The work includes breeding and maintaining transgenic mouse strains, Southern blot-based mouse genotyping, standard molecular biology techniques, general lab management and organization.
Candidates should have a laboratory training (CTA/MTA, or an equivalent academic qualification), an ability to work in English with an international energetic scientific team, good communication and social skills, an interest in learning new techniques and a well- organized working style. Training will be given but at least one year experience of laboratory or mouse work is required. Salary will be based on FWF scales and relevant qualifications.
The position will initially be based at the Vienna Biocenter (Dr. Bohr- Gasse 9, 1030 Vienna) but will transfer to a new purpose-made research building in the heart of the Medical Universityʼs Vienna General Hospital Campus in Spring 2010.
